Top Ten Tuesday – Extraordinary Book Titles

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and The Bookish in 2010 and was moved to Artsy Reader Girl in 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each week a new topic is chosen, this weekโ€™s is: Extraordinary Book Titles.

While there are a lot of awesome titles out there Nen and I particularly enjoy ones that are indulgently long! We had fun coming up with books for this week’s topic and hope you think they’re pretty extraordinary too.

Here they are:

INDULGENTLY LONG TITLES

The Longest Title on our List: (18 words)

Whiskey in a Teacup: What Growing Up in the South Taught Me About Life, Love, and Baking Biscuits

Books we’ve read on this list: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, How to Tell if Your Cat is Plotting to Kill You, Isla and the Happily Ever After

Books we’re most looking forward to reading: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe and The Long Way to a Small Planet.

// have you read any of these books? what were your thoughts on them? //

Nen & Jen

    1. Thanks Kitty Marie! We really love long titles – they just add something extra to remembering books. They’ve got to be really great reads (or terrible ๐Ÿ˜› ) to be really memorable. I’m really excited to read another book by Becky Chambers. I loved To Be Taught, If Fortunate. Have you read that one? It’s so short but so so good โค Jen

  1. The only one I have read from this list is How Rory Thorne Saved the Multiverse. It was a decent read but just not my cup of tea. Great list!

    1. I remember reading your review for it. I’ve seen a really mixed set of reviews and I think I’ll probably not enjoy it as much as I’m hoping to as we tend to have very similar thoughts on books. I’m keen to give it a try though ๐Ÿ˜€ Jen

    1. I’ve recently fallen SO IN LOVE with Becky Chambers. Her character development makes me so happy! Have you read To be taught, if fortunate? I loved that book so much, even though it’s really short โค Jen

    1. I’m really excited for Ari and Dante and the long way to a small, angry planet โค Hopefully they're as good as the titles are long. Sorry for the late reply, this week was insanely chaotic. Thank you for the lovely comment though! ๐Ÿ˜€ Jen

    1. Nen and I bought the how to tell if you cat is trying to kill you book for our best friend. He’s obsessed with cats (specifically his cat… which lives like a King ๐Ÿ˜› ) It was actually a really funny read! Sorry for the late reply… this week has just been BRUTAL at work and uni. Thanks for the lovely comment ๐Ÿ™‚ Jen

    1. I love the Oliver Sacks story – the neuro nerd in me. It’s really under-appreciated and such a fascinating example of how a small injury can drastically alter our personality and perception. Thanks for the lovely comment Elysa ๐Ÿ™‚ Jen

    1. Nen and I bought How To Tell If You Cat Is Plotting To Kill You for our best friend (he spoils his cat SO MUCH) and it was such a funny read! I was pleasantly surprised considering we bought it as a joke gift. Thanks for commenting Sarah ๐Ÿ™‚ Jen

      1. Sheโ€™s only released one other book besides for the Anna and the French Kiss series – Thereโ€™s Someone in Your House. Itโ€™s more of a thriller book though so I havenโ€™t read it. Iโ€™m not often in the mood to read that genre but itโ€™s got some really positive reviews so may be worth a try ๐Ÿ˜Š Jen

  3. Love your take on this TTT prompt! While I mostly love shorter titles, I definitely see the appeal in some of the longer ones. I LOVE Ari & Dante and the title and cover brings such magic to mind! I’m also really digging Becky Chambers’ book titles! They definitely make me curious and wanna pick up her books ASAP ๐Ÿ˜Great list, Jen!

    1. Thanks Dini! There’s something about longer titles that just make Nen and I so happy! The shorter ones feel almost misleading sometimes. Plus, the beautiful cover of Ari and Dante wouldn’t be the same if the title was short ๐Ÿ˜› Jen
