Top 5 Saturday: Books With Maps I NEED to Read

Hi all!

Welcome to another Top 5 Saturday Reads meme. It was created by the lovely Mandy over at Devouring Books as a way to share books that we would love to read.

This week’s topic is: Books With Maps. Can I just say how much Nen and I (mostly Nen though..) ADORE maps?! They’re so freaking pretty and while I love to include them as interior decor Nen actually draws them for fun… so this week’s topic had us bursting at the seams with excitement!

Not everyone is a cartography nerd but if you’re one too please share below! We’d love to know what your choices would have been for this week’s theme!

Here they are:

Bitterblue – Can I just say that not only does this map look SO PRETTY, it also highlights Kristin Cashore’s amazing world-building ability? I love the Seven Kingdoms and honestly hope more people read her books. They’re so underrated and deserve to be appreciated more, in my opinion.

Shadow and Bone – I’ve been wanting to try Leigh Bardugo’s writing for quite some time! Shadow and Bone has been on my TBR for AGES and this map has finally convinced me to move it up my TBR… so I’ll probably get around to it in Dec haha! Isn’t it stunning though? Makes me wish I could draw like Nen and the artist that drew this!

The Lady Pirates Series – This one has been on my TBR for a while now but I’ve never gotten around to it. Seriously, my TBR is like a bottomless pit. There’s no organising or saving it at this point. The cover initially caught my attention because its STUNNING but look how cute the map is! Doesn’t it just make you want to explore Omna??

Song of the Lioness – So, this one is kind of cheating. I’ve read this numerous times but a recent post made me aware of how influential it was in my reading journey while growing up and I CANNOT WAIT to re-read it! Tortall was where my first adventures as a YA fantasy reader began…

Chronicles of Narnia – If you can’t hear…. Nen is currently gasping and berating me for admitting that I’ve never actually read The Chronicles of Narnia. I watched the movies though! Which may or may not have had something to do with Ben Barnes BUT I’m keen to give them a try soon. They’ve been sitting on my shelves for YEARS.

// have you read any of these? what were your thoughts on them? //

Jen

    1. Ooh thanks for the recommendations! I’m actually looking forward to reading the EIAOBM. I think I first saw it on your anticipated post for fall? Or somewhere in your blog… almost positive 😂 I added it to my TBR after reading that post! I’m even more excited to try it now 😄

  2. I have only read Chronicles of Narnia and Shadow and Bone. Both maps are very interesting! I would pick Narnia over the other though since it’s a book that has been with me the longest. I wish I had a magical closet!

    1. I still have to get around to Narnia. The concept is so interesting!! I wish I had a magical closet too… although I’m sure I’d be the overly cautious one who would take FOREVER to actually go through haha! Jen
